The development of Muskrat Falls is generating significant employment opportunities. The project will provide 9,100 person-years of direct employment in the province, 5,800 of which will take place in Labrador. Direct employment during construction peaked in 2014 at more than 4,000 people.
Construction began in 2013 and is well underway at multiple locations across Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to building the new hydroelectric generating facility at Muskrat Falls, construction of the new transmission lines and other project infrastructure is also underway from Churchill Falls to Conception Bay South.
